To say I’m rather stoked would be an understatement! While I don’t have any flash images and or video to back this up I’m overly pleased to say that I just saw my first NZ Falcon on our property.
At first I wasn’t sure if I was seeing things but after some research it appears that I have indeed seen one, not something I have been aware of on our property in the ten years we’ve lived here. This Year there is an abundance of bunnies so I don’t know if that would be the reason, especially as the Falcons typically dine on smaller birds.
It’ll be interesting to see if I see it again, but if I do it’ll mean that one has taken up residence somewhere locally which would make me a very happy camper and they are considered endangered.
